I’m Sunshine
Welcome to my website! My name is Sunshine Simmons and I am currently a graduate student at Brigham Young University. My work specializes in folklore and literature from the medieval period.
In particular, I study the intersection of women and the supernatural in literature from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. I have also been researching how various extremist groups have co-opted valkyrie symbolism from Old Norse mythology.
By studying the supernatural and women in medieval literature across various cultures, I hope to shed light on the enduring relevance of mythological imagery in shaping socio-political discourse both historically and in contemporary societies.
